Watching short films at Havremagasinet of course!

On 21 December, we’ll be enjoying short films of all kinds. Take a break from the Christmas preparations and come to Café Pampas for popcorn, something good to drink and not the least a fantastic selection of short films.

The films being shown are:

FOR TEENAGERS (13-16 YEARS)

PUNKDRÖMMAR
Directed by: Maja Moberg, Melina Ekh, 2024 / 20 min

Borgerlig Begravning, one of Sweden’s youngest punk bands, captures their generation’s battle cry through feedback and raw energy. A documentary about music, friendship, and punk dreams.


JAMILA (SWE)
Regi: Sophie Vuković, 2019 / 13 min

She’s about to leave home when she sees the envelope. Jamila’s family has been denied their asylum application. She pretends not to notice, takes her little sister to school, and meets up with her friends. But wherever she goes, she suddenly sees them everywhere — the police. Sophie Vuković (Shapeshifters, 2017) offers a powerful glimpse into a childhood marked by uncertainty.

 
KATTHAT (SWE)

Two rats — a father and his son — living in a suburb of Stockholm discover one day that a cat has entered their home. The father throws it out, but the cats keep coming back. As the father’s frustration grows, the child begins to see them in a different light.

JAG SKINER INTE UTAN ER MINA BRÖDER

Over the course of a year, Yahya loses three of his brothers. In a small hideout, he can live within his imagination and meet them again. He can talk to them, touch them, hold them, miss them, carry them — and be carried. With a dreamy and tender language, Alexander Abdallah offers a poetic reflection on fatal shootings and masculine norms.

PUSH IT (SWE)

In the gym hall, Adam is king. When Hedda challenges his position, it doesn’t have the effect she expected. A sharp and insightful portrayal of what is perceived and valued — and how the group maintains hierarchical structures.

TENDERLAND

Two friends navigating a world of fantasy and hanging out. The stakes are low and morale is high.

 

WHENEVER THE FLOOD ARRIVES

In a world where artists are tiny beings born from animals, a mockumentary explores the lives of four sisters hatched from bird eggs, who live completely isolated from civilization in what seems like an idyllic environment.

 

GRANDPA IS SLEEPING

A 6 years old girl refuses to accept her grandfather’s endless sleep and takes him out for one last beautiful day together.

THE SYNTHETIC AGE

In a city where people consume cartoons, a dog reconciles with its old friends, and together, they try to escape from humans.

 

NIGHT BAT
Directed by: Eleni Chandriotou, Cyprus / 4 min

An animation created for the avant-folk music trio Monsieur Doumani from Cyprus, Nychtopapparos (Night Bat) follows the awakening of the night bat beneath the rising full moon, accompanied by the other creatures of the dark. In Cypriot slang, “nychtopapparos” also embodies the restless spirit of those who wander sleeplessly through the night. The animation weaves three interconnected narratives, exploring the concept that “the dreams of those who sleep become the inspiration for those who stay awake.

MY GRANDMOTHER IS A SKYDIVER

Alfyia, a joyful young woman in 1960s Central Asia, is actively parachuting and studying to become a midwife, when she receives an extraordinary phone call from her granddaughter in 2022. She is worried about her grandmother’s safety amid the invasion of Ukraine. In this intergenerational conversation across time and space, the granddaughter tries to restore and rethink family memory and her own ethnic identity, break the endless cycle of collective trauma and reflect on the meaning of human life.

In the heart of the gloomy mountains, a young woman walks alone. Arriving at the entrance of a cave, she ventures inside and heads towards a shimmering lake. Inside her body, a fierce battle is taking place between black and color, between melancholy and happiness, between death and life.
