Nordic AR and Public Space Platform
A NETWORK EXPLORING AUGMENTED REALITY
Nordic AR and Public Space Platform is a newly established network of Nordic artists, curators, researchers and cultural practitioners exploring how augmented reality (AR) can be used in public spaces.
In 2025 and 2026, Havremagasinet hosted two network gatherings where participants explored the potential of AR to bring local stories, memories and histories to light in rural areas and smaller communities. Participants were introduced to different places and contexts in Boden and Norrbotten, exchanged experiences, developed their practical knowledge of the technology and worked together to develop new ideas.
In June, young people from Havremagasinet’s Konstpunkten also took part. Over two days, they experimented with AR as a tool for art, storytelling and reflection. AR offers new ways of experiencing places, raising questions, expressing opinions and creating site-specific art without physically altering or affecting the places themselves.
The project will continue to develop the ideas and artistic projects that have emerged during and between the network gatherings.
Nordic AR and Public Space Platform has been carried out with support from Nordic Culture Point.
