What do you do on one of the shortest days of the year?
Watching short films at Havremagasinet of course!

 

On 20 December, we’ll be enjoying short films of all kinds. Take a break from the Christmas gift’s shopping and come to Café Pampas for popcorn, something good to drink and not the least a fantastic selection of short films.

Short Film Day is organised with the support of the Swedish Film Institute and Folkets Bio.

PROGRAMME

Two programme packages will be shown during the day

1. BUFF presents: Young in Sweden

Five short films that give different perspectives on being young in Sweden in 2024. The films touch on themes such as prejudice, gang violence, identity and resistance. The programme is curated by BUFF Malmö Film Festival.

The films are shown with Swedish speech and English subtitles.

Waiting

Teenage girls Sofia and Jamilla are tricked into carrying a gym bag. When they discover that there is a weapon in the bag, they are thrown into a battle that both challenges their friendship and puts them in danger.

Summer Nights Be Like

Munbloss

14-year-old Wilma and her friends are hanging out in the playground. Everything is as usual but something has changed – and it gives Wilma a lump in her stomach. A film about the leap between childhood and youth.

Punk Dreams

2024 / 20 min

Borgerlig begravning, one of Sweden’s youngest punk bands, captures the battle cries of their generation in their roundness and energy. An intimate documentary about music, friendship and punk dreams.

A film package curated by REX Animation Film Festival especially for Short Film Day 2024, featuring the best gems from their latest programme.

I died in Irpin

24 February 2022 my boyfriend and I fled from Kyiv to Irpin. We spent 10 days in blockaded city and managed to escape with the last evacuation convoy. Time passed, but the feeling that I died in Irpin never left me since then. The film reconstructs this true story of survival through a personal and subjective lens.

Matta and Matto

In a dystopian world where touch is forbidden, Matta and Matto offer refuge to the lonely at Hotel Vaip. In the deceptive labyrinth of mind bending rooms at their transient hotel, deepest desires are fulfilled and surpassed, but this comes at a price.
