with open eyes
elisabeth moritz
15 february – 11 may 2025
Elisabeth Moritz explores her family’s German past and questions of guilt through large prints of family photos from the first half of the 20th century. Focusing on the interwar period and the Second World War, she depicts how social changes – from democracy to populism and dictatorship, from peace to war – are reflected in the family.
By cutting the photographs with a scalpel, she creates a dialogue between the historical images and her own personal search.
