Bodenskolan takes it's place

In public and in private

In 2025, Havremagasinet will celebrate 15 years as an art gallery. Over the years, an important part of its activities has been to highlight local art history – our cultural heritage – with the art group known as Bodenskolan. Fourteen artists from the 1950s onwards came to play an important role, not only for Boden but for the entire county’s art scene.

In addition to displaying a large amount of “new” art by the group, parts of the public artworks created by several of the Boden School artists are also highlighted.

The only woman in the group, June Montana, receives special attention. She was a unifying force in the 1950s and 1960s, a teacher and inspiration to many of the inquisitive and aspiring artists in the “Bodenskolan.” She remained active as an artist until her death in 2008 at the age of 93.
