Bodenskolan Takes Its Place
In the Public and Private
Welcome to this unique opportunity to hear politicians’ perspectives on the art scene in Norrbotten. During the evening, politicians will present their visions for the future of cultural policy and take part in a meaningful discussion about the development and possibilities within the field of art.
We will gather at Konsthallen Kulturens Hus on April 14 to take the pulse of art politics. This event serves as an important platform for discussing the future of the art field, its needs, and its potential in our region.
The evening begins with a presentation by Galleri Syster and the project Strategies for Difficult Times, which aims to stimulate dialogue around the challenges and opportunities within the art field. This is followed by a moderated discussion where politicians share their visions for the development of the arts. The focus is on creating an open and constructive dialogue, with particular emphasis on the importance of contemporary art and the independent art scene—areas that often receive less attention within the broader concept of culture.
The goal is to build dialogue between the art field and politicians from Luleå, Boden, and the region. Through this event, we aim to highlight the role of culture in society and clarify the need for stronger cultural policy to promote artistic freedom, regional development, and a vibrant cultural life. At the same time, the event offers insight into how decisions are made and how dialogue functions between the state, regions, municipalities, civil society, and the independent cultural sector.
This is more than just a conversation—it is an opportunity to influence the cultural policy discussion ahead of the upcoming election. After the panel, the conversation continues over a shared dinner at a long communal table, where all participants are invited. The aim is to foster dialogue with politicians, strengthen the position of art, and gain insight into how policymakers view the role of artists and culture in the coming years. The event is also a tool for navigating the election year 2026.
Welcome to take part in this important conversation—for the future of the art field and a clearer, more inclusive cultural policy in Norrbotten!

Strategies for Difficult Times
Galleri Syster launched the project Strategies for Difficult Times in 2025—a platform for dialogue among art and cultural organizers in Norrbotten. The aim was to develop shared strategies for artistic survival in uncertain times, where threats from anti-cultural movements call for collaboration and dialogue. Through regular meetings and discussions, the project seeks to build understanding, strengthen networks, and safeguard artistic freedom—essential to a democratic society.
The project focuses on Norrbotten’s unique conditions, including geographic distances and industrial transitions, and aims to promote collaboration between organizations to address both challenges and opportunities.
Galleri Syster is a self-organized, artist-run gallery in Luleå—a meeting place for contemporary art and a space for dialogue and discussion. The organization is grounded in feminist values. Galleri Syster is run by artists Anja Örn, Sara Edström, and Katt Skarin, who also develop Lillasyster, a youth art collective in Norrbotten.
KONSTTRÄFF
The event is initiated by KONSTTRÄFF (formerly Moskito) and is a collaboration between Havremagasinet Länskonsthall Boden, Konsthallen Kulturens Hus, the Resource Centre for Art, and the Artists’ Collective Workshop (KKV).
