Swedish Arts Council’s new acquisitions 2021

In 2021, the Swedish Arts Council received SEK 25 million from the government to acquire contemporary art. The investment was a government commission to support the Swedish art scene during the pandemics crisis. The grant significantly boosted the annual purchases of new artworks made by the Arts Council since 1937. The initiative has resulted in over 500 newly acquired works of various forms of expression by 350 artists representing different generations and backgrounds, working all across the country.
In collaboration with the Art Council, Havremagasinet presents a selection from the collection of more than 70 works by 56 artists.
