What is a home? What do we mean when we talk about ‘home’? A roof over our heads, a refuge, a protected place where we are sheltered from weather, wind, and the world’s noise? The concept of architecture easily brings to mind monumental structures or magnificent buildings rather than the dwellings we construct to meet our most human needs, the buildings we create to become our homes. But what are the alternative dwellings today that can be inhabited, that can be transformed into becoming a home? What is a home beyond the physical space? How is a sense of belonging realized in an insecure and threatening world and existence?
