On Sunday 29 September, we invite you to the finissage of the summer exhibitions Spelling Borders and The Foundations of Home. Guided tours and discussions will provide an in-depth look at the works that visitors from all over the world have been able to experience during the summer.

The Foundation of Home (curated by Mikael Andersson and Erik Törnkvist)
Participants: Mikael Olsson, Swedish Home Studies, Anderas Nobel & Joakim Zickert, Peripheral Works, Pernilla Wåhlin Norén, Johan Jönsson, KVAE & BARK, Swedish Institute for Standards.

PROGRAMME 29 SEPTEMBER 2024

– 13.00 – Guided tour of Spelling Borders, led by Mariangela Mendez Prencke, Director of the Havremagasinet Art Centre, followed by a guided tour of The Foundation of Home, together with the exhibition’s curators.
– Approx. 14.15 – “Location. Tradition. In Progress. Critical regionalism today”.
A conversation with the Umeå-based architectural practice Peripheral Works about how the exploration of regional furniture and architectural traditions can be translated into a critical practice in our time.
– 15.00 – The day will end with a film screening of two video works from Spelling Borders: ‘This Land 4 All’ (20 min, 2024) by Hanni Kamaly and “Xaraasi Xanne/Crossing Voices” (120min, 2022) by Raphaël Grisey and Bouba Touré.

During the day, artists KVAE & BARK will be on site on the 2nd floor. They will be transforming the exhibition space from summer to winter.
